Employment and being able to earn an income is likely to be essential to ensuring your new life is a success, unless you are lucky enough to have a private income. After all, bills have to be paid wherever you live in the world and having an income is necessary!

If you can obtain an offer of employment before you emigrate, this is the best possible solution. But being practical, this is not an easy thing to do from many thousands of miles away and there are time differences to consider also.

Searching the internet for jobs can be a rewarding experience, but very time consuming. And sometimes the employer will be inundated with CV’s for each vacancy meaning it is hard to stand out from the crowd. Possible ways around this are to find an employment agency that specialises in your area of expertise. If you can build a relationship with them, they may be able to open doors for you. Some visa and migration agents have contacts with local employers and they may well be able to put you directly in touch with someone who can help in your employment search. But ultimately it is down to you to work hard to find the work solution.
